Find The Best Devon Lighting Design Experts

By Jaclyn Hurley

So you're renovating your house and you want to put in some touches to help you keep up with the Joneses or leave them behind in the dust all together. One awesome way to do this is the often overlooked medium of light in the spaces of your house to make sure the shadows fall where you want them and Devon lighting design experts are masters at this. Below are just a few ideas to help you towards this end and bring your room into a new age of light.

Be wary when using compact fluorescent lamps or CFLs within your house. These lamps often give off a harsh and unforgiving light that makes everything around them like stark and boring. Some of them can be nice but you should always be wary when selecting these kinds of lamps for use within your home.

But where can you work after you've graduated as a light placement designer? Well one good avenue to explore is that of theatre or dance light design which is a discipline greatly focused on the correct application of light. Otherwise just straightforward architectural light working for either a firm or for yourself is another possible avenue to success.

Once you're qualified as a designer you must keep in mind not to judge people's light layout designs too harshly. People often tend to focus too much on the design of a fixture rather than on the placement of the fixture itself, leading to poor light conditions. It's important to keep in mind how the light hits the surface and how it moves through the space.

Often small or unusual spaces within a house can be brightened up and made more interesting through the use of a colored light fitting. Some LED lights can even be changed on the fly in order for you to change them whenever you get bored of the present color. Just experiment a bit and see what works for you.

A professional trick to keep in mind is that of lighting vertical surfaces such as when art is on the wall or just lighting the paintwork itself. It makes a room feel bright and gives the room a feeling of space. This looks especially dramatic when placed behind furniture.

Upward vertical lights can even be used outdoors either on walls, shining up stairs or even placed into wall sconces. Be careful not to use too much light however as it will kill the feeling of night which may be disconcerting. Placing some lights in tress may also give a cool effect to your garden.

These are just some of the tips you can make use of for interesting interior lighting design either for work or for your home life. If you don't want to go through the route of expensive education to reach these levels then just take a look on the internet. There are plenty of people out there willing to help for free.
