Rare Holidays Deserve No Less Than Flowers

By Lizbeth Nathaniel

To send flowers to a birthday celebrant or to mom during Mother's Day is indeed such a common act for many. Even Valentine's Day, anniversaries and the arrival of an addition to the family are occasions by which we are sure to send flowers as well. Occasions where flowers can be found appropriate gifts and a fun show of love to those we care for, of course, number to several more.

For instance, the creator of the Hallmark card company invented a special day to honor friendship. This day, aptly called Friendship Day or International Friendship Day, occurs generally during the first weekend of August. This holiday has been around since 1919 and offers a perfect opportunity for you to thank someone for being a good friend.

Apart from Father's Day and Mother's Day, grandparents have their own special occasion to celebrate too. On the first Sunday after Labor day, Grandparent's Day is being celebrated and surely Grandma or Grandpa would love to receive flowers or live plants on this occasion. Of course, sending flowers from a San Clemente florist should also be coupled with a phone call full of endearing words from you or maybe even a dinner out or in their home prepared by you.

There is that unique holiday in the United States which not so many know about and that is the Sweetest Day. Every third Saturday of October this is being observed by people solely in the U.S. Its birth dated back in 1921 when its original purpose was to give tribute to those who are sick, orphaned, poor, elderly or the many people who have been especially kind to us. When this day comes, many people try to remember to send flowers to the ones who have been extra caring and supportive to them and maybe even send large flower arrangements to retirement or nursing homes in order to cheer people up. There are also those who try to donate to food banks or homeless shelters, and if not, they at least spend time in such places.

If you know someone who loves Halloween, this is a great occasion to send someone a special, spooky flower arrangement. There are online flower shops that create Halloween bouquets featuring Halloween colors and then place the arrangement in a Jack-o-Lantern or a pumpkin. Sometimes special decorations are added such as spiders, a witch's hat or perhaps a few bats.

There are some friends of ours who are active in protecting the environment thus to give them something special on Earth Day or Arbor Day is but fit. Your friend will delight in a basket-full of live plants from your Oceanside flower shop because it's something that can be planted and enjoyed for several years.
